Sign-ups. What makes customers join a site INSTANTLY? Or FINALLY?

Models often are telling me: Wow! Things had been so slow recently. But after releasing this new update and posting the previews i had TONS of sign-ups in the following days... Such stats of course don't lie. But they can lead to serious misconceptions, even to the extent of fatally wrong decisions regarding the general direction of a paysite. As a model, you better think twice here.

The big $$$ question is: How many of the sign-ups are downright instant buys? In the sense that somebody would spot the previews of a particular set, then check the samples of a site, and shortly after buy a membership? Although it's hard to get bullet-proof figures here i'd say: that rate is smaller than you would think.

(1) In general: The timing of a sign-up can depend on so many aspects, and many have nothing to do with a particular update. For example: A customer is already a member of (let's say) 2 other sites. And he simply wants to wait till those have expired. Or this customer is so swamped with work, his funds are running short right now, isn't in the mood for joining paysites etc etc. But after all, when seeing your breathtaking preview he has put you ontop of his list and will join you in 2 months. AFTER you have released several new updates!!

Thus you better do not change the type of your content when sign-ups went up after one particular update.

(2) More specifically: A particular update indeed can change your 'impact' on potential customers. Or rather, it can shift your impact. Meaning to say here: For a change, you now release an 'artistic' set, a fetish set, an eating set, a casual set, a hardcore set, a pinup style set etc etc, you will get particular attention for that. From the folks who are into that particular thing - and who will respond avidly now, but hardly become so much your fans now that they would pay for a subscription (okay, that part surely is good for a separate discussion). But more importantly, such a shift of impact can positively play with expectations and rise curiosity - with respect to those customers who already are following your updates / on the basis of your content released before. I mean to say that your new and different update just works as the final drop to pay for a membership, and only together with the substantial impact you have been creating before that new update. Another reason to better not change your direction.

In general i think:
(1) The majority of customers rather gets STARTED by the 'velocity' of your assets and the appeal of your overall look, than by the type of content that you're doing.
(2) It's rather the effect of particularly well-shot images or videos, of you looking dramatically hot after being well captured (not primarily technical quality BTW !), than the style or content they're taken in.
Besides that, there are of course lots of folks who want you to show a particular thing, otherwise they're out. But these peeps are mainly loyal to their 'thing' or fetish. And hardly ever loyal fans of your special appeal.

Your videos could be so much more enjoyable !

Technical complaints

Announcement. Looks like i got more time (and priority) now for this baby here. Also quite a few interesting ideas plans ! But for now i'm making a return with some minor technical details. Stay tuned !!

I'm aware that hardly anybody of you has a university degree in video shooting. Or other professional training. Nobody is demanding that. With todays technology however you can get affordable tools to please us customers easily. In case you don't make the worst mistakes. Let me mention a few today.

What's up with this random moving and zooming of your camera all the time?!! I'm seeing this all too often: There's no or very little action going on, but the camera is staggering around plus zooming upclose and off, as if it's operator had 40 cups of strong coffee before. Ruins totally the viewer experience.

See it this way: A professional camera man of course does move his camera. Maybe that was your (whole) idea. But he does it for a reason: He either simulates the natural movements of the human eye (that never will focus randomly). Or he kinda supports the story that the plot is telling - in that case he will expose a particular detail. So when a model f. ex. is unbuttoning her shirt, no extreme zooming is wanted. Getting slightly closer would be natural (for the human eye). Now if - in a criminal story - something special with that button is about to happen, then a closeup would make sense: Got me?

The trouble will increase when somebody is using a digicam. Those don't have image stabilization. So each time when you move the cam the auto-focus will try to correct ... and you'll get these annoying effects of a blurry/flickering image. It's too bad.

So better leave the camera as it is most of the time. And move it just a lil bit occasionally. Less is more, as usual. Yes, it's true, that's why i often prefer a girl shooting herself, where nobody would touch that stupid camera.

Secondly: Get a decent webcam ! It's unbelievable. I've seen quite a few girls using el cheapo webcams. The framerate of those must be something like 2 fps (looks more like slideshow), every movement comes across totally blurred (y'know: boobie shaking, and all you see is a field of blurriness), and the colors look drastically surreal (to say the least). Maybe acid takers do love that. But this ain't nice. Ok, i'm not talking girls who just entered the biz the other day, are on a tight budget and have to find yet if they're making money off it. I'm talking about girls who are in the scene for years, who are making good money (yes, webcam biz can be quite lucrative) but they don't invest the $120 or so for a halfway decent Logitech webcam (f. ex.). Escapes me, considering that she can earn that amount in 1 - 2 sessions. And nobody can tell me that cam show customers wouldn't care about image quality. People are strange.

[Random Observations] Bring your own sheets !

Hotel Photo Shooting

Since Girl/Girl photo sets apparently are quite in demand i've seen alot of pics recently shot in hotel rooms. Quite a logical idea, of course... especially when the models live in different areas and just meet up at the hotel for shooting. Which also provides a different location. Nothing wrong with that.

Of course nobody would spend his budget to rent a room in the Ritz (or whatever the most advanced hotel might be). So everybody is going with more budget-friendly places and their peculiar charms. Like those wooden bedside tables with the telefone ontop. Or the lowest denominator art at the walls. Again nothing wrong with that.

But those bedcovers !!! It seems unavoidable that most budget-friendly hotel rooms come up with those thingies like beige base color plus brown and/or green patterns (floral patterns?). Oh no !!!!

A big turnoff that usually ruins otherwise great images, at least for me.

So you're using considerable attention on your wardrobe, makeup, hairdo etc. But why not upgrading such an exposed detail, particularily after it can be done with such minmal effort?

So bring your own sheets. Folded up they take very little space in your backpack etc. And if you can't find your fav color in your mall it's super-easy to buy white sheets and color them in your washing mashine, to an appealing dark blue, red or whatever you prefer.

There are many ways to hide this beige debacle.

Flagship Photosets (They do love MissMinaBBW)

Adding the 'state of art appeal' to paysites (pun intended)

Would think that not all of you are reading the business section in your newspaper. You should. Got interesting articles there sometimes.

Here's one thought i've found that might be valid for paysites too.

There are companies that invest alot (of money, manpower) into highend products or product lines. They will never sell enough of these items to break even their original investment or running costs. They only do it in order to sanitize their general reputation as a company that gets identified with 'quality' and/or 'advanced technology'... what will help to increase sales of their mainstream products.

Like what the German car manufacturer Volkswagen did with the Phaeton, a quite pricy model with 8 and 12 cylinder engines. They are selling so few of it that people in Germany labeled it as "the phantom" (i.e. 'you hardly see it'). And in case the Phaeton might not have come across in an ideal way, Volkswagen even went one step further by re-launching the classical mega-exclusive brand Bugatti. And their recent release of the Veyron 16.4 is simply insane - a car fired by 1000 horsepowers and running over 270 mph.

These flagships give the cheap and dirty products the image of coming from a very capable and 'classy' manufacturer.

So what? I'm supposed talking porn here. Yes!... These days i was archiving + burning older stuff sitting on my drive, like my collection of Miss Mina. I had a trial subscription going for 3 days about 18 months ago. So i ran into a set called "Romping up the Hay". It's shows Miss Mina only dressed with a (halfway pulled down) dark pantyhose, a great makeup (she's a unique makeup queen anyway) and posing in a scenery of huge hay bales. The combination of these softly shaped bales with their uniform color and Miss Mina's striking presence is lasting. The photography in general, the lighting and the angles also look perfect for me (ok, apart from the red eyes what could be solved in a reprocessing session).

This is indeed a flagship photoset in the before mentioned sense.

And it is also high art erotica. Where i also should mention that usually i'm not a great supporter of the art approach in erotica/porn. In most cases these efforts kinda stitch two flavors together and fail on both ends.

I would think that guys who want to get their engines started would look at the raunchier stuff of Miss Mina first. And she has alot of that on her site, especially in her longer and stunningly performed videos (can't give a full review of her site because my membership was too long ago). But it's sets like her 'hay' set that create the momentum, the lasting experience. And it's also the combination of both, the raunchy stuff and the 'flagship' sets that sanitize a site, that make it unique in comparison to other sites. Great to see that Miss Mina can shine in both ways.

Many thanks to Miss Mina for allowing me to use one of her photos !
